Inspired by the natural world and all of the vibrant creatures and landscapes with in it. Branching out is a central theme and practice in my work. One of the subjects that most captures my imagination is fungi. Fungi are the ultimate connectors in the natural world, playing a critical role in the ecosystem. They branch out below their showy fruiting bodies to form intricate networks with other organisms. These connections are crucial to the functioning of our world and are just as beautiful and vital as the branches of trees. The hidden nature of the branching of mushrooms only adds to their appeal.

In addition to branching subject matter, I use various materials to create my pieces, branching out from traditional paint and paper to carved wood, cut wood, embroidery floss, and many other materials that are needed to express the nature of my subjects. I have used mirrors to connect fungi to the deep oceans and space beyond. Branching isn’t only a physical process but a way of drawing connections between seemingly unrelated things. All things are related, and I aim to show the beauty in those connections through my work.
